TAPA Standards
About three years ago, we began the TAPA certification process. Initially, we achieved level C, and at this time last year, we reached level A. But what exactly is TAPA?
TAPA stands for ‘Transported Asset Protection Association,’ and it is an organization that develops security standards for the supply chain, including logistics, to safeguard goods from theft. TAPA certification demonstrates a company’s commitment to ensuring the protection of the shipments during transportation.
The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) is a unique platform that brings together worldwide manufacturers, logistics providers, freight forwarders and carriers, law enforcement agencies, and other interested parties who express jointly the goal of reducing losses in international supply chains.
Created by security experts from different sectors, the TAPA Security Standards are shaped to deal with how cargos are managed, stored, and transported in the entire world.
These standards define the minimum-security criteria and offer guidelines for TAPA certification of facilities and transportations for their members and supply chain partners. Achieving compliance with the standard relies on real cooperation among suppliers, TAPA Certified Auditors and Buyers collaborating effectively to correctly understand, adopt, and auditing of these criteria.
TAPA’s mission is to minimize the loss of cargo in the supply chain. This is accomplished by implementing global security standards, promoting recognized industry best practices, leveraging technology, providing education, conducting benchmarking, collaborating with authorities, and proactively identifying trends in criminal activities within the supply chain.
The TAPA values can be summarized as follows:
- Upholding integrity and transparency
- Encouraging information sharing
- Taking responsibility for the standards
- Providing support for all stakeholders.
We are proud to be part of it and our commitment to continue improving is strong.
